This year, due to the pandemic, the CDG institute has adapted and held these debates in virtual mode. There are thus 9 webinars that took place under different themes.

Also, the CDG institute has written a summary of the key messages retained from these nine webinars on themes as interesting as each other.

Digital is gaining ground

During the first webinar under the theme “The company of tomorrow will be digital”, the five invited speakers agreed to make this observation: “today, digital is no longer an option for the company but becomes essential for His development “. Indeed, they believe that technological advances have disrupted habits, thus pushing companies to change their way of doing things and to adopt strategies in which digital has an important place. Moreover, Saloua Karkri Belkeziz, President of GFI Africa, speaking at this webinar will define digital transformation as “the transformation of processes and organization, which relies on digital tools”.

AI at the heart of change

In another webinar held under the theme: “Can we trust artificial intelligence?” “, The speakers made the following observation:” artificial intelligence is at the heart of the changes that society is experiencing and serves as a support for a large number of recurring activities of daily life “. Wanting to be reassuring about fears of job losses, Tariq Daouda, PhD, Research fellow – Massachusetts General Hospital, Broad Institute, Harvard Medical school, emphasizes: “the employment landscape will change, new jobs will be created and others will disappear, it is the evolution each time a new technology appears ”. And Rachid Guerraoui, Professor, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, added: “Artificial intelligence is not the prerogative of rich countries and it is important for Morocco, which relies heavily on relocation, to surf the wave of AI, at the risk of missing the industrial shift ”.

Green finance to boost economic growth

“Green finance, a lever for relaunching economic growth” was the theme of the third webinar held in October 2020 with the participation of four speakers. For the participants of this webinar, the covid-19 crisis was an opportunity to rebuild a more egalitarian and sustainable global economy, going well beyond the financing of the energy transition and the transformation of chain models. supply. They believe that this “would make it possible to develop a low-carbon world, more balanced but also more just and ideally more resilient”. For Hamid Tawfiki, Managing Director of CDG Capital, “green finance is one that is aware of its role in the economy, in the impact to have on society. Green finance is not a simple player, but with its different first names, it comes in several forms, nested and interdependent, like Russian dolls ”. In addition, the speakers stress that funding is not the only element contributing to economic and financial transformation, stressing that “a change in mentality, behavior and priorities among all actors is necessary but also the implementation place standards and regulations with incentive policies ”.

On the role of education in society

The national education system was also the subject of a webinar under the theme: “for a more dynamic vision of the role of education, new skills for a complex world”. For Mohamed Soual, president of the association for teaching excellence and chief economist of the OCP group, the school “constitutes a fundamental element of living together and of national cohesion, it is the place of socialization throughout. life “. This webinar, rich in constructive discussions, allowed speakers to share their vision on education and the role it must play in society. For the speakers, the issue of education remains the backbone of society and therefore any change in the education system will first have to go through a profound change in the school. Moreover, five other webinars under various other themes such as the effects of the pandemic on the energy industry, the circular economy, waste management, mobility and health policy also took place during the year. elapsed.
