Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center welcomes events – Celebrity Land

“Events at the convention center create more than Billion dollars in economic impact for the city each year. Opening its doors means a shot in the arm to our local economy, “he said. Steve Goodling, President and CEO of the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We are pleased to welcome many diverse conventions and events in the coming months, including ComplexCon, Advanced Clean Transportation Expo (ACT) Y Expo Intermodal. ”

While the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center has been closed to events since March 2020 Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in the intervening months it has been far from idle. The facility served as a mass vaccination site and was a major player in Long Beach achieving its current vaccination rate of 72% among adult residents, with 214,807 injections administered on the spot. And of April 22 to July 23, 2021, the center met an urgent humanitarian need, temporarily housing 1,538 migrant children who were reunited with family members or patrons.

“The Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center is more than a venue for events, it is also a hub for our community,” he said. Charlie Beirne, manager of the convention center. “ASM Global was honored to step up and meet the needs of our residents during the pandemic, and to assist in a humanitarian crisis by housing and helping care for migrant children.” ASM Global is contracted with City of Long Beach to manage the installation. After the departure of the children, the center was completely renovated and prepared for its next calendar of events.

During the 15 months that the convention center was closed, CVB and the center’s management partnered to develop their services beyond the walls of the facility itself. In the new era of virtual meetings, Long Beach Live was born, a complete in-house hybrid event solution with accredited staff, professional multi-camera productions, and direct engagement with remote attendees. The platform enabled events such as Long Beach Economic Forum, City state, Y Christmas tree lighting take place virtually and served as a way for the CVB to connect with meeting clients. It also played an important role in accessibility during the Fireworks show on July 4, 2021 sponsored by CVB and Cruceros Harbour Breeze, allowing 41,000 people to view the show online.

“July 4 really illustrated that hybrid events are an opportunity to increase attendance and audience,” Goodling said. “In addition to the 41,000 people who watched online, the event had the largest attendance in history, with 50,000 people watching over the course of the Long Beach coast. “With CVB’s award-winning service and the convention center’s award-winning turnkey venues, De Long Beach The value proposition as a meeting and event destination has only grown, he added.
