Long agony: young man shot in the head after a fight in a restaurant died five days later in New York; arrested teenager

Doraymus Robinson, a 22-year-old man who was shot in the head in a Staten Island (NYC) deli during a dispute, died after agonizing for five days in the hospital.

Robinson was a customer at the “Elegant Deli” business on Victory Blvd. near Bay St. in the tompkinsville neighborhoodwhen his girlfriend started arguing with a man who was apparently selling drugs in the storejust before 6 p.m. on June 21, police sources and witnesses said.

“If you keep doing it, something bad is going to happen to you,” the young woman warned the drug dealersaid to Daily News the manager of the establishment. As Robinson and his girlfriend left the store, the suspected drug dealer made a call from the store’s phone.

Shortly after a car stopped and at least two men got out, leading to a confrontation with Robinson. During the confrontation the dealer came out of the store, pulled out a gun and shot Robinson in the head. The three suspects then ran off.

Robinson was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center, where he agonized for five days before he died on Sunday, the New York police said yesterday. He lived about 3 miles from where he was shot.

Two days after the shooting, police arrested 18-year-old Naquan Brooks, charging him with attempted murder, assault, weapons possession and criminal use of a firearm. The suspect lives in Coney Island (Brooklyn) according to NYPD.
