The police immediately give a number of tips to check the notes. “You can feel the difference. With real euro notes you will immediately notice the relief print. Specifically, in relief are the mention of the European Central Bank, the nominal value and the building. You can also look, there is the watermark with the image of the building, the security thread in the middle of the note and the transparent register. This refers to the at first sight incomplete printout of the value at the top left of the note. However, when you let light shine through it, the full figure comes out.”

You can also see the difference when you tilt the note. “When the notes are tilted, the hologram with hidden printing becomes visible. You can see three elements in it: the euro symbol, the face value of the banknote and the twelve stars of the Euro countries. At the lowest denominations (of 5, 10 and 20 euros) you will see the colors of the rainbow when tilting. For the higher denominations (of 50, 200 and 500 euros), the value of the note changes when the color is tilted. For example, on a 50 euro note, the color changes from olive green to brown.”
