Lombardy is the region with the largest number of restaurants with Michelin stars

The 66th edition of the Italian Michelin Guide 2021 is one of the most anticipated events in the world of gastronomy, but also for those who love to travel and eat well.

Furthermore, this was an edition that saw the confirmation of Lombardy as the region with the largest number of restaurants that can boast Place Michelin (59 restaurants: three to 3 stars, six to 2 stars and 51 to one star).

But even more important is that this event, which was broadcast in live streaming, introduced a real novelty: the pictogram dedicated to sustainability – the Green Star – which was awarded to chefs who promote more sustainable cuisine.

But let’s see in detail where we can eat well in Lombardy, between one truly extraordinary city like Milan and a lake view meal as the wonderful lake of Como.

We assume that all 11 Michelin Three Stars in Italy have been confirmed. But 3 are the restaurants that “deserve the trip” in the tastiest region of the Belpaese, namely Lombardy: “Da Vittorio” a Brusaporto in the province of Bergamo, a town lying on the last hills of the Val Cavallina; “From the Fisherman” a Canneto Sull’Oglio in the province of Mantua, a place where you can really go back to being children; and Enrico Bartolini at the “MUDEC” in Milan, a city that continues to surprise for its constant evolution.

Earning two stars in Lombardy was chef Davide Oldani of the “D’O” a San Pietro all’Olmo in the province of Milan. Restaurant that last year had only obtained one and which can be an absolutely excellent excuse to visit a particularly nice area full of unmissable attractions.

Other starred novelties in Lombardy are that of Andrea Casali from “Kitchen”, immersed in the greenery of a private park on Lake Como and Takeshi Iwai from “AALTO”, in the city of Milan.

Finally, to obtain the new Green Stars in Lombardy, or those awarded for the sustainable gastronomy of 2021, they were: Pietro Leemann of the “Joia” in Milan, Davide Oldani of the “D’O” in the municipality of Cornaredo, Franco Malinverno of the “Caffè La Crepa” in Isola Dovarese and Roberto Tonola of the “Green Lantern” in Villa di Chiavenna.

We just have to organize a trip to Lombardy to go and taste the tasty dishes of the restaurants awarded by the “bible of taste”.
