As it became known to the “Championship”, Moscow “Lokomotiv” and several other Russian clubs are interested in the midfielder of “Heracles” Alexander Merkel. Kazakh footballer will become a free agent in summer.
Merkel played for Milan in 2009-2011, after which he was sold to Genoa for € 6.5 million. The midfielder has played at Heracles since 2018. Before joining the Dutch club, Merkel played for the Austrian Admira, the German Bochum, the Italian Udinese and Pisa, the Swiss Grasshoppers and the English Watford.
From 2007 to 2011, Alexander played for youth teams of Germany of different ages, his debut in the team under 19 years old took place in a match with the Czech national team (1: 1), where Merkel scored one goal. In 2015, it became known that Merkel agreed to play for the national team of Kazakhstan. Since then, he spent 3 matches for the national team.
