Logitech G502X Plus review

PRO

  • Very fast sensor
  • Renewed design
  • Long battery life (without RGB)

Logitech’s most popular gaming mouse is back and better than ever. Discover Logitech G502 X Plus.

The Logitech G502 X Plus marks a new era for the company’s popular 502 range. The release of the Logitech G502 X Plus alongside the wired Logitech G502 X and the new Logitech G502 X Lightspeed Wireless was a long time coming, but now that the mice are finally available, it quickly became clear that the wait was worth it. The optical switches are better, the wireless performance has been renewed, and the design has also been updated.

However, not everyone is comfortable with the change, and we expect there will be some resistance from fans over Logitech’s decision to remove the weight adjustment option from this lineup. However, that’s all and the Logitech G502 X Plus will undoubtedly convince old and new users.

Price

You must have something to spare for the Logitech G502 X Plus, because the mouse is not currently available for less than 160 euros. That price is somewhat to be expected for a premium mouse, even if you’re also paying for things you might not need, like RGB lighting. Wireless charging is also an option, but for that you need to invest more in Logitech G’s Powerplay mouse pad, which will cost you around 130 euros.

Drawing

With the Logitech G502 X Plus, the company is following the trend of lightweight mice that we saw earlier in 2022. The whole thing weighs 106 grams including the PTFE feet, which make it easier to glide over the mouse pad. Weight adjustment is not required, although weights from other recent Logitech G mice can be used if available.

The Logitech G502 X Plus will especially appeal to gamers who are fans of a palm grip, as is the case with the Roccat Kone XP Air. However, the mouse is easy to use even with the smallest hands. The sides have a premium grip and your thumb can rest comfortably. In total there are 13 buttons that can be programmed for a very pleasant taste and feel thanks to the new mechanical switches used. The extra thumb button is also worth mentioning, because it can be rotated if desired or given a non-clickable cover.

The available RGB is neatly implemented, but the choice is obviously up to you whether you want to use it or rather save some battery. In the latter case, the Logitech G502 X Lightspeed Wireless might be the better choice.

Performance

We have no complaints in terms of performance. We’ve already mentioned the PTFE feet, and we’ve also mentioned the weight as excellent, especially for gaming. The fact that you can reprogram the buttons with the G Hub is also a big plus.

There’s also the HERO 25K sensor, the same one its predecessor had too and ensures that you can move smoothly and precisely, whether you’re playing a game that goes lightning fast or just much slower. For most gamers, this sensor may be too fast, but professional gamers will definitely benefit from it.

The Lightspeed connection has also been improved and is 68% faster than the previous generation. Plus, now you can also use one dongle for multiple devices. It’s not explicitly stated, but presumably that’s what it is a version of Logi Bolt.

Lastly, the battery lasts long enough, and you can quickly expect 120 hours when you’re not using the RGB lighting. About a third is left with lighting, so you should consider whether you really need those colors.

To buy or not?

The Logitech G502 X Plus is blazing fast and comes with the necessary programmable keys. The design is familiar but also improved and will appeal to all types of gamers. The price is right and will no doubt stop some of you, especially if you also want wireless charging.
