Logging in via Facebook will be mandatory on Oculus VR glasses | NOW

Oculus will require new owners of virtual reality glasses to log in with a Facebook account from October. The company writes that on the website.

Existing users who now have an account through Oculus will be given an option from October to log in with a Facebook account and link it to the existing Oculus profile. People who don’t connect the account to Facebook can use the Oculus account for another two years.

As of January 1, 2023, support for Oculus accounts will end. From that moment on, VR glasses will remain usable, but the functionality will be limited until a Facebook account is used.

The company expects that some games and apps will no longer work for people who do not want to switch from then on. “That could be because it contains features that require a Facebook account or because the developer is discontinuing support.”

Oculus says logging in via Facebook will enhance the social features of virtual reality.
