On the threshold of the “red” zone

The mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, said that the capital is threatened by a “red” zone, and the city commission of TEB and Emergencies will meet tomorrow to decide on the restrictions.

It should be noted that in the competence of local authorities, in particular, regulation of the work of public transport. Kiev has been preparing for the work of transport in lockdown since the summer and if it is introduced, travel will only be with electronic special passes. As reported in the Kyiv City State Administration, employees of critical infrastructure enterprises will receive special passes. The document will work through the digital Kiev card.

If the capital imposes restrictions on the “red” zone, then the work of cafes, restaurants, cinemas, theaters, shopping and entertainment centers, fitness centers will be prohibited. According to the new rules of adaptive quarantine, restrictions can be disregarded provided that staff and visitors are 100% vaccinated.

In which zone is Kiev now

As of October 21, Kiev is in the “orange” zone where the following restrictions apply:

  • mass events – no more than one person per four square meters,
  • halls of cinemas and theaters can be filled only by 50%,
  • in gyms and fitness centers, no more than one person is allowed per 10 sq. meters.

At the same time, the business decides for itself whether to adhere to these restrictions, or work without them, but with the vaccination of staff and visitors.

In the “orange” zone, kindergartens and primary schools work without restrictions, but the senior school can work full-time, provided that 80% of teachers are vaccinated.

Note that since October 25, schools in Kiev go on vacation.

In addition, from October 21, new rules for interregional transport – trains, buses and airplanes – began to operate in Ukraine. From midnight, when boarding the train, the conductors check the passengers for the availability of a vaccination certificate or a PCR test. An express testing point has been deployed at the metropolitan railway station.

The Central Bus Station has already announced that due to new restrictions, 40% of carriers refused to start flights.

Compliance with the rules is monitored by the police, and violators face fines. In particular, if there is a passenger without a covid document in the bus, an admin protocol will be drawn up for the carrier and he will face a fine.

The situation with the coronavirus in the city

Over the past day, 1,192 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Kiev, 39 people have died.

In total, more than 2 million vaccinations were made in the capital, one million residents of Kiev have undergone a full course of vaccination.

Klitschko urged the people of Kiev to be vaccinated, noting that isolation would be an alternative to vaccination.

“We have little choice – either vaccination or isolation,” Klitschko said.
