Lockdown Effect in Vietnam, RI Gets Abundance of Export Orders

Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaIndonesia gets an abundance of production orders from the impact of industrial lockdowns in major competitor countries such as Vietnam.

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) encourages export performance, especially from the industrial sector, to return to normal. One of them is by routinely monitoring the implementation of health protocols strictly in the industrial sector which has been operating 100% during the PPKM period.

Director General of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industry (IKFT) of the Ministry of Industry Muhammad Khayam said strict monitoring was carried out so that the industrial sector that had been operating 100% did not become a new cluster of Covid-19. By keeping the cases of the spread of Covid-19 under control, their performance can also be improved.

According to him, the implementation of this strict procedure has proven to bring the performance of the industrial sector soaring and a flood of requests from other countries. Among these are the garment and footwear industry.

“Currently, PT GI and PT SCI are getting an overflow of orders from Vietnam and other countries in the region lockdown due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said in an official statement after a working visit to Central Java, Tuesday (28/9/2021).

The overflow of orders makes PT Globalindo Intimates (GI) in Klaten Regency and PT Always Cinta Indonesia (SCI) in Salatiga to carry out full production until 2023. So again they need more workers to do production.

“The current number of PT GI’s workforce is 3,800 people, and will be increased to more than 6,000 people. Meanwhile, PT SCI will increase its workforce to 9,000 people from the existing 5,400 people,” he explained.

He continued, in accordance with the mandate of the Circular Letter of the Minister of Industry Number 3 of 2021 and No. 5 of 2021 concerning Operations and Mobility of Industrial Activities during the Covid-19 Public Health Emergency, industries operating during the PPKM period must implement health protocols in their production operations.

“Both companies have obtained 100% production operational permits and have implemented health protocols and implemented the PeduliLindung application properly. They have also implemented health protocols that include 6M and apply 3T to all employees,” he said.
