“Liverpool’s Chance of Finishing in Top Four Seems Too Small: Juergen Klopp”

Liverpool

Four consecutive wins, but Liverpool’s chance of finishing in the top four seems too small. Juergen Klopp also accepted failing to finish in the Champions League zone.

Liverpool continues its winning streak at Premier League, after silencing Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 at Anfield, Sunday (30/4/2023) evening WIB. The victory lifted ‘The Reds’ to fifth place in the standings with 56 points from 33 matches.

Juergen Klopp’s squad is currently nine points behind Newcastle United and seven points from Manchester United at 3-4. For the record, MU still has one game saved so that the distance can be widened to 10 points.

Only having five matches left, aka 15 points to win, Liverpool accept the fact that the top four are too difficult to achieve. Moreover, Newcastle and MU have not lost many points lately.

Newcastle have lost just one of their last nine outings, winning the other eight. MU is just starting to string positive progress in the last five matches, winning four wins and one draw.

“Of course you can’t (finish in the top four). If United and Newcastle win all the games, how can we finish there? If they start to lose, we can get close,” Klopp told the BBC.

“Until then, we have to win games to qualify for European competition. Brighton played one of the best games I’ve seen this weekend. I have to say, Roberto De Zerbi, wow!”

“They are behind us with two games in hand. Aston Villa is growing. If we can keep them behind, it will be considered a success,” he said.

Liverpool are mathematically in danger of being overtaken by Brighton & Hove Albion, which currently has 52 points in eighth position. Brighton has only played 31 times.
