Liverpool will not give up a number of players in the coming international period, unless the quarantine rules for top athletes are adjusted in England. According to trainer Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool will receive support from FIFA in this.
With the corona measures currently in force in England, Klopp will have to miss several basic players for ten days after the international period. Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota would have to be quarantined for ten days under the current rules, because they will play matches in countries that are on the red travel list. There is a chance that this also applies to Sadio Mané. As a result, these players should in any case miss the meeting with Arsenal on April 4.
Georginio Wijnaldum, one of the reserve captains of the Dutch national team, may well be able to travel to the Dutch national team. The Orange will play three qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup in March, in countries that are currently not on the English government’s red travel list.
Manager Klopp is talking to The Guardian clearly. He will not hand over his players for international matches if they have to be quarantined as a result. “FIFA has been clear: we don’t have to give up all our players this time. I believe everyone would agree that with the current problems we cannot let our players travel.”
