Liverpool defeat Manchester City 3-1 to snatch Community Shield 2022. Liverpool’s new player Darwin Nunez show impressive performance.
Nunez only entered in the second half, replacing Roberto Firmino, in the match at the King Power Stadium on Saturday (30/7/2022). During approximately 40 minutes of action, the Uruguay striker recorded four attempts (two on target) from a total of 15 attempts created by Liverpool.
The 23-year-old footballer was involved in the creation of Liverpool’s last two goals after the Citizens equalized thanks to Julian Alvarez.

In the last 10 minutes of normal time, Darwin Nunez awarded the Reds a penalty. Mohamed Salah converted the penalty into a goal after hitting the bottom corner of the net to give Liverpool a 2-1 lead over Man City.
In the process Darwin Nunez successful bury the hope of Manchester City. Nunez’s header beat Ederson to ensure the Reds won the 2022 Community Shield trophy, as well as marking his first goal in an official match in a shirt Liverpool.
Liverpool right back Trent Alexander-Arnold happy with Darwin Nunez’s performance and did not hesitate to give praise. Nunez seemed to answer doubts after being made fun of for appearing less convincing at the start of pre-season.
“Very good. He won a penalty, scored a goal and looks alive,” the England international told ITV.
“He’s been brought in to score goals and he proved he can do that today. He’s a top player, a young player who wants to learn. He has a great bond with the players. He’s come with a proof.”
