RED AND ORANGE VIGILANCE IN THE ALPES-MARITIMES

– The Alpes Maritimes have been placed in red vigilance since noon. The rainfall accumulations expected during the episode are of the order of 100 to 150 mm over large areas with locally 250 to 300 mm or even locally more. Strong thunderstorms with strong gusts of wind are also expected. The strong southerly winds persisted throughout Friday, before easing in the evening. They are generating strong waves in the southern sector which will start to reach the coast of the Alpes Maritimes from this afternoon. A peak is expected in the evening and early next night. Atmospheric conditions also cause a marked rise in sea level.

The Alpes-Maritimes department is also placed on orange-level “waves-submersion” vigilance from this Friday October 2 at 6 p.m. to Saturday October 3 at 6 a.m. The maximum intensity of the phenomenon should occur this Friday between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.

VIGILANCES IN BRITTANY, VAR, BURGUNDY AND RHÔNE-ALPES

– In Brittany, rain vigilance remains in effect until 9 p.m. in the Côtes d’Armor and Finistère. The wind will intensify this afternoon in Finistère with gusts of 100 to 120 km / h over the western half of the department. This windy passage is not sustainable and fades in the evening. The rains will remain sustained in the Côtes d’Armor and Finistère, in the order of 40 to 60 mm in a fairly generalized manner, and locally 80 mm by next night. In addition, a new active rainy return will concern northern Brittany and Cotentin at the end of the night from Friday to Saturday.

– In the Var, Vaucluse, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes, the accumulations of rain will become important over the hours, especially on the relief. We expect on the episode 50 to 80 mm in general with local peaks at 100/150 mm. And there too, strong thunderstorms accompanied by gusts of wind are expected.

– In Rhône-Alpes, the rains intensify at the end of the morning around the Rhône valley and last until the evening with accumulations of up to 50 to 80mm in places. In addition, strong thunderstorms can occur in Drôme and Ardèche with strong gusts of wind.
