Millions of Americans on Thursday ignored authorities’ Covid-19 advice not to celebrate Thanksgiving Day, or at most in small groups.

Over the past week, at least a million Americans a day boarded a plane to visit family. Thanksgiving is traditionally celebrated with the whole family and people sometimes travel thousands of miles to get together.

The exodus came despite warnings that massive travel threatens to exacerbate the country’s pandemic even further. The last 24 hours in the US with 2,400 deaths within a day was counted in six months.

Anthony Fauci, America’s top contagious disease expert, said he expects a rise in the number of cases due to the holiday. In total, more than 263,000 people have died in the US by Thursday and the number of infections is approaching 13 million, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

President Donald Trump spent the holiday playing a round of golf on his Virginia course. He again questioned the election results, without providing any evidence of fraud. “It is impossible that Joe Biden got more than 80 million votes. This was a 100 percent stolen election, ”he snorted on Twitter.

Future President Joe Biden gave a speech to the American people. “I know better days are coming, I know how bright our future is. I know the 21st century is going to be an American century, ”he said.
