On Saturday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m., the Capitol will broadcast live from the MET Opera House in New York the opera Falstaff by Verdi. The glorious Shakespearean comedy features a brilliant ensemble in Robert Carsen’s famous staging. Baritone Michael Volle sings his first Verdi role at the Met as the Caddish knight Falstaff, gleefully tormented by a trio of clever women. Soprano Ailyn Pérez as Alice Ford, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano as Meg Page and contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux as Mistress Quickly reunited. Soprano Hera Hyesang Park and tenor Bogdan Volkov form the young couple Nannetta and Fenton, under the direction of maestro Daniele Rustioni.
