“Pārgaujas” coach Ingus Laiviņš emphasized in an interview with Latvian Television before the match that the game against “Lekering” is a special event, because the teams of one region meet on the field. Lekrings head coach Andris Malkavs said that before the game he had to adjust to a couple of notches, but his team will play his game, not just try to avoid mistakes.
In the Latvian championship, 12 teams compete in the highest level tournament for men, which play two laps in the regular season. The eight strongest regular championship teams will qualify for the playoffs and will continue to fight for medals.
