‘Live as a boy with a girl’s mind’; Surabhi Lakshmi for a friend

Transgender people are still the direct survivors of much suffering in our society. The pain of social isolation, humiliation, and persecution make their lives colorless.

These problems can be solved to a large extent only by consciously acknowledging them and allowing them their space. Many such changes can be seen today. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person.

Actress Surabhi Lakshmi, a National Award winning actress in the New Year, once again reminds us of the importance of this subject. Surabhi has written about a close friend since childhood. Surabhi’s note congratulating her friend who has become a woman through surgery and assuring her of support in her later life.

Sridevi wishes you this year …

To live as a boy with a female mind is a pain that can only be understood if it is experienced. Putting an end to that pain, my dear playmate, Sreesh has become ‘Sridevi’.

The surgery was performed at Amrita Hospital (Ernakulam) yesterday. Thanks to Dr Sandeep Sir, other doctors, health workers and everyone who stood by her dream.

My greatest joy this year is that I have been able to mentally stay with him ever since I learned this information years ago. This is not the first time in the world that a boy has turned into a girl, but this is the first time in our life.

However, I’m sure our narcissists will accept her as a ‘woman’ above all else.

Greetings Sridevi …. I stand by your wishes, desires, dreams, and above all, your right to live the life you love …
