List of Permanently Closed Transmart Stores

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Retail company PT Trans Retail Indonesia or known as Transmart has closed 12 outlets in 2022.

Vice President for Corporate Communication of Transmart Carrefour Satria Hamid said the closure of several of its outlets was due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to him, the closing of several outlets was done to ease the company’s work from unsatisfactory outlet performance.

“This phenomenon of closing outlets is common in the retail industry. This has also happened to restaurants to hotels due to the pandemic. Not only that, since 2020 people have become more comfortable shopping online. This is also our challenge to attract people to shop at our outlets again,” explained Satria Hamid, quoted from Kontan.co.id, Sunday (5/2/2023).

Several Transmart outlets that are permanently closed include Transmart at Mangga Dua Square, North Jakarta, Transmart ITC Kuningan, South Jakarta, Transmart ITC Permata Hijau, South Jakarta, Transmart ITC Cempaka Mas, Central Jakarta, Transmart Ambasador Mall, South Jakarta, Transmart Tamini Square, East Jakarta and Transmart Kepri Mall, Batam.

Hamid continued, at least he could breathe a sigh of relief because the government had revoked the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). That way, his party can take the momentum to strengthen sales with the current number of outlets.

Currently, Transmart has a total of 95 outlets spread across Indonesia. Until 2022, it has closed 12 outlets.

Satria revealed, for this year there will be no more outlet closures. “For expansion or plans to open new outlets, we are still waiting and seeing. We are still looking at the possibility of adding new stores or consolidating existing stores,” he continued.

Satria also said that he was optimistic and confident that he could increase sales during the upcoming Ramadhan and Eid. Transmart admits that it has prepared 3 times more stock compared to the usual month.

Not only that, Transmart also cooperates with other business units, such as Allo Bank, Bank Mega and Mega Syariah to provide attractive promos for customers.
