“Only 4 percent speak both national languages”
“17 percent of immigrants speak neither German nor Italian,” emphasizes the South Tyrolean Freedom. For immigrants from countries outside Europe, this proportion is already 37 percent. Almost half of these immigrants would only speak Italian and only 4 percent have a medium level of command of both national languages.

Language as the key to integration
The South Tyrolean Freedom would like to warn again that this immigration could influence the composition of the language group relationship: “This development is an autonomy-political and cultural mortgage! The aim of a far-sighted integration policy must therefore be to learn both national languages! ”
Süd-Tiroler Freiheit is convinced: “Language is the key to integration! But it can only succeed if the immigrants speak the language of the local people, and 70 percent of the time in South Tyrol it is German! “
