Volkswagen has announced that all 333 Golf R 333 copies found their owners in less than 10 minutes after the sale was opened on the Internet. It turns out that fans of the sporty hatchback were not at all confused by the atypically high price for cars of this class, even knowing that the differences from the 20,000 euro cheaper Golf R are minimal.
The same two-liter turbo unit as the Golf R 20 Years Edition and Golf R Performance is built into the engine compartment of the Golf R 333, providing 333 hp and 420 Nm of torque. In combination with the power unit, the 7DSG dual-clutch robotic box and 4Motion all-wheel drive work, allowing the electronically limited 270 km/h to be reached, while the sprint to 100 km/h takes just 4.6 seconds.
The limited-edition model features a Lime Yellow Metallic body, a black roof and black side panels with the number of copies in the series. Standard equipment includes sports seats in nappa leather, LED matrix headlights, Light and Sight package, Travel Assist driver assistant, lane departure warning system, emergency assistance system, ACC cruise control with Stop & go and automatic distance control, reversing camera and Harman Kardon sound system with 9 speakers and a total power of 480 watts.
Among the electronic assistants of the all-wheel drive car are R-Performance Torque Vectoring and driving dynamics control with Drift and Special modes (intended for the Nürburgring circuit), as well as an Akrapovič titanium exhaust system and black 19-inch Estoril wheels with Semi Slick tires.
The hype around the special model could be related to the fact that this is one of the last chances to buy a super powerful Golf with an internal combustion engine, as the next generation Golf will already be an all-electric vehicle.
