While they had generally dominated the match during the first hour of play, the players of the Stade Malherbe Caen struggled greatly at the end of the match against Amiens, Friday February 5, 2021. Deprived of Oniangué, victims then of the wound of Rivierez (remained on the ground), they held good thanks, in particular, to two very large parades of Péan.
Caen may regret the missed opportunities by Bammou or Mendy early in the second half, but the draw makes sense. And the fact of not conceding a goal, a first in nine games, has something to reassure slightly. Malherbe barely reached the 30 point mark, ten points from the top 5 and seven from the relegation dams.
Pascal Dupraz’s statement
” I have mixed feelings. We start this fateful bar of 30 (points) that we hoped to pass much faster. We will get back to work quietly and serenely. “
The movie of the match
94′ 0-0. Péan saves Caen again on a point blank header from a corner. It’s hot in front of the Caen cage! The referee whistles the end of the match!
92′ 0-0. The end of the match is complicated for Caen since Rivierez’s injury, still on the pitch. The Caen, who can always rely on a sparkling Lepenant (his last head goes above, however), first struggle to ensure the shot defensively.
88′ 0-0. While Mbengue had given some scares to Caen supporters, in his area, Beka Beka made a perfect defensive intervention. The young midfielder easily recalls that he was, in the past, a central defender. Meanwhile, Rivierez sacrifices himself for the endangered homeland.
82′ 0-0. Decisive parade of Péan, who relaxes at full length to get Odey’s head on the ground! Caen is struggling! Beka Beka will finish in central defense, Rivierez having gone up a notch.
78′ 0-0. Hard blow for Caen! Rivierez is injured in his ischio, but the five changes have been made! The captain remains on the field, his thigh bandaged, but he is in pain …
69′ 0-0. Beka Beka, warned in the wake, forces Gurtner to a headline after a good serve from the excellent Lepenant. Caen insists.
63′ 0-0. Pi and Beka Beka have returned to the place of Deminguet and Court.
62′ 0-0. The dangerous head of an Amiénois on a free kick passes next to the frame.
57′ 0-0. This time, it’s Bammou on the pass, a nice cross from Bammou on the right side. Mendy is at the reception but he totally misses his volley at the penalty spot, surrounded by two opponents. It was a big situation, the second in a row for Caen.
55′ 0-0. The superb blow pass from Deminguet’s scarf to Bammou allows the attacker to strike from an off-center position. Gurtner intervenes.
53′ 0-0. Hit in the thigh, Prince Oniangué will have to come out. He will be replaced by Adama Mbengue.
46′ 0-0. Caen will have to accelerate the pace to hope to destabilize the defense of Amiens. It’s off to the Unicorn!
45′ 0-0. Between two cautious teams, obviously eager above all not to concede a goal, Amiens and Caen neutralize each other at half-time (0-0). Neither of the two guards had to work. The Caennais tried to set the pace, with a short game, but struggled to approach the opposing last 30 meters.
43′ 0-0. After a ball stupidly lost by Weber on a short raise in the axis, Rivierez commits a fault between the surface and the touchline on Alphonse. He receives the first yellow card of the meeting. The free kick will not give anything.
40′ 0-0. Caen is in an interesting search for the collective and manages to stretch the Amiens defense across the board. On the other hand, as against Valenciennes, the forwards are not in the best position. The Caennais are especially seeking to reassure themselves in this balanced match. Opposite, Lomotey’s long shot passes not far from the frame.
32′ 0-0. We had to wait more than 30 minutes of play before seeing Amiens’ first strike, quite clearly off target. Caen is three shots away.
30′ 0-0. For now, the Caen defense is holding up! No goal conceded after half an hour of play, it had not happened since the reception of Toulouse, four games.
25′ 0-0. On a free kick well struck by Court, Mendy does not frame his head. The match is rather lively and Caen is gradually taking the ascendancy.
14′, 0-0. Oh, this time there was surely a penalty for Caen on a pivotal recovery of Rivierez countered by the captain of Amiens in the box! M. Gaillouste does not flinch. Not long before, Mendy had been whistled offside for not much …
5′ 0-0. The start of the match is balanced between the two teams. If the game is rather alert, no action is to be observed at the start of the game.
It’s a Stade Malherbe Caen deprived of three attackers (the axial Nicholas Gioacchini and Benjamin Jeannot, the winger Kélian Nsona) who will try to win a first victory in 2021 in the league. The match against Amiens, to be followed live on our site, will however see Yoann Court’s first tenure since January 11. Pascal Dupraz has again opted for a 3-4-3 from which Caleb Zady Sery and Anthony Gonçalves emerge, replaced by Steeve Yago. Jessy Deminguet and Johann Lepenant remain in line with the midfield.
On the Amiens side, we find the ex-Caennais Molla Wagué in central defense. After a catastrophic start to the season, the ASC raised the bar with a 3-4-3 in their last outings as well. The Picard club, however, remains on a 2-0 defeat at Pau. He is eighth in Ligue 2.
The meeting kicks off at 8:00 p.m.
