Lufthansa makes the departure!
After almost 32 years in the most important German stock market index DAX, the airline will move down to the MDAX at the end of June. Bitter for Lufthansa boss Carsten Spohr (53): “It hurts, we are a founding member of the Dax!”
But the step was inevitable: since the beginning of the year, the airline has lost almost EUR 3 billion in stock market value, and the share has lost 38 percent. Only a government aid package could save Lufthansa from bankruptcy!
The crane airline has been hit harder by the crane airline than any other company in the DAX. Since the beginning of the year, the shares of companies such as MTU Aero Engines (-33% percent, Deutsche Bank (-28 percent) and Daimler (-25 percent) have also suffered heavy losses.
But given the Corona pandemic, it was no surprise:
►At its lowest point on March 12: the Dax loses 1277 points in one day after the USA bans entry. “There was a recent slump in the stock market crash of 1929,” said Jörg Krämer, chief economist at Commerzbank, about BILD.
►The stock market recovery then came as suddenly as the slump. “The dealers were encouraged before the number of new infections began to decrease,” says Krämer. The Dax has now made up around 80 percent of its losses. “This is remarkable,” says economist Krämer.

Lightning recovery for the DAX
In fact, the leading index was only 4 percent down on Friday.
The billion dollar economic stimulus packages from politics were helpful for the flash recovery, Krämer believes. And the measures taken by the EU central bank: “It helped that the European Central Bank pumped billions into the market. That raised the hope of investors. “
Ultimately, the markets always looked to the future: “They speculate that the Dax companies will survive the crisis and make decent profits again.”
A little ray of hope: The Lufthansa share has also recently picked up again – on Friday the paper gained 0.56 percent.
