Context : With 4.6 million visitors in 2019 divided between the Musée d’Orsay and Musée de l’Orangerie, the Public Establishment of the Musée d’Orsay et de l’Orangerie – Valéry Giscard d’Estaing (EPMO) is one of the leading institutions internationally renowned French museums. The establishment’s primary missions, in particular, are to conserve, protect and study heritage, but also to present the collections to the widest possible audience.
Each season, the programming and auditoriums department schedules more than a hundred events, mainly in auditoriums (at the Musée d’Orsay, 330 seats and at the Musée de l’Orangerie, 50 seats). It also organizes events in all museum spaces: the nave of the Musée d’Orsay or the water lilies room at the Musée de l’Orangerie during evenings, major festive weekends or on the occasion of “Curieuses nocturnes” dedicated to young audiences (18-30 years old).
This multidisciplinary program is designed in conjunction with the museum’s collections and temporary exhibitions.
Job Description
Main missions and activities: Within the production department of the Cultural Programming and Auditoriums Department, under the authority of the technical director and in coordination with the general stage manager and the sound stage manager, the light and video stage manager is responsible for the preparation and use of light. and video of shows and events created or hosted, in public performances or audiovisual recordings. As such, its missions are as follows: • Participate in the analysis of technical data sheets in his areas of expertise, including the estimation and monitoring of equipment needs, intermittent back-up team and planning. • Operational implementation of the assembly, operation, dismantling phases in its fields: installation of equipment, loading / unloading, coordination of its light or video backup team, encoding of the console, production and operation of conduits for shows. • Record and video edit conferences and certain events. • Ensure a one-off artistic investment in the creations produced by the Museum. • Perform day-to-day maintenance of lighting, video projection and video capture equipment (change of lamps, preparation of gelatins, cabling and dusting of cameras and optics, etc.) and repairs. • Ensure a technical watch on the new equipment of the light and video park, in particular within the framework of the auditorium investment plan, in coordination with his team and the head of department.
One-off missions: The lighting and video technician may be called upon to accompany, advise and support teams from other departments (Public Department, Digital Department, Presidency) for the installation and preparation of their events in auditoriums and museum spaces.
Professional environment : Hierarchical links: Under the direct authority of the technical director, within the production department of the programming and auditoriums direction.
Functional links: Interfacing with: – artists and speakers welcomed as part of the cultural program; – the light and video managers of the shows; – technical service providers outside the museum in accordance with the constraints imposed by the museum’s operating rules (access, space occupation grids, relations with reserves, etc.); – suppliers of stage equipment for purchasing, rental and maintenance.
Conditions of exercise: Availability in the evening and at weekends.
Description of the profile sought
Profile of the candidate sought: Knowledge : • Solid knowledge in the various technical fields of the show: light and video . • Knowledge in the audiovisual and digital fields: recording and projection (power point projection or cinema) • Knowledge of business software: iOS and Windowq operation, RégieSpectacle, Organ games (Congo Kid and ColorSource AV), Video control rooms, video processing applications (Adobe Pro, Milumins and Resolume Arena) • Electrical accreditation and CACES • Knowledge of the general functioning of a performance hall • Knowledge of the regulations of establishments open to the public (ERP) and sensitivity to risk management and prevention
Know how : • Experience in lighting control (reception and creation) • Adaptability • Ability to work independently and anticipate needs • Ability to speak and write in English
