French Citizens can Expect ‍Over ⁤a⁣ Decade of Healthy⁤ Life After⁣ 64, Study Finds

Paris, France – A new study ‌reveals that French women can anticipate living an ⁤average⁣ of 13 years without important limitations after reaching the age of 64, while French men can expect⁤ 10.5⁢ years of‌ healthy life. These figures place France well above the ⁢European Union average, offering a positive outlook on⁢ quality of life in ‍later years.

Healthy Years Exceed European Averages

The research indicates that at 64, women in France can look forward to 13 years of ⁤life free from incapacity – defined ⁢as limitations in daily movements. This is substantially higher than the European average of 2 years and ‍6 months, positioning france as the 5th highest-ranking contry within the European Union of 27.

men fare equally well, with ‍an expectation of 10.5 years of healthy⁣ life after 64. This represents a difference of 1 year and ⁣4 ‍months compared to the ⁢European average,⁤ securing France’s 7th position among the EU’s 27⁢ nations.

Recovery to Pre-Pandemic Levels

The proportion of ⁣years lived without incapacity has demonstrated a consistent upward trend since 2008. Over the past fifteen years, this figure has increased from 44.7% to 50.8% for women and from 47.7% to⁣ 52.9% for men.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic introduced temporary disruptions. As the study details, “During the‍ pandemic ⁣linked to COVID-19, ‍life expectancy without incapacity ‌at 65 years ‌old experienced changes – remaining ⁣stable in 2020,⁤ growing strongly in 2021, before decreasing just as ⁢strongly in⁢ 2022, to ‍return to a level close to that of 2020.”
