Despite the cancellation of one stage, the prestigious Binck Bank tour continues. On Thursday, Emīls Liepiņš promoted the triumph of teammate Mads Pedersen in the second stage. Pedersen also took the lead in the overall standings of the tour.

On Friday, 153 cyclists continuing the tour competed in the 8.14-kilometer-long individual race. No major climbs were included on the track, which allowed high average speeds to be reached. The fastest distance was completed by Danish Siren Krag Andersen (“Sunweb”), with a time of 9 minutes and 56 seconds.

Meanwhile, the second place was taken by the bronze medalist of the world championship, the Swiss Stefan Lord from “Groupama FDJ”, who was separated from Denmark by six seconds. The third was another Swiss cyclist, Stefan Bišeger (“EF Pro”). He lost seven seconds to Andersen. The fourth was Mads Pedersen (+00: 00: 09).

Successful start also for Emils Liepins. Dobelnieks finished in 10 minutes and 37 seconds. It gave 30th place. Emil was 38 seconds slower than the winner on the track. Behind him were men such as John Degenkolb, Zdenek Stebar, Nicky Terpstra, Seps Vanmarke and many other well-known names.

In the overall standings, Pedersen retains the honor of the leader, who is seven seconds ahead of his compatriot Andersen. Emīls Liepiņš is in 50th place, 1 minute and 25 seconds behind the leader. It should be taken into account that the main task of a Latvian is to help the team in the sprint stages, which he has coped with perfectly.

The tour will end on Saturday with a section of 183 kilometers long and very rich in the hills.
