Lido and JIIPE Become Special Economic Zones, Potential to Raise Hundreds of Trillion Investments

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The formation of the Lido Special Economic Zone (KEK) in Bogor, West Java and the Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE) in Gresik, East Java, was approved at the KEK National Council meeting, Wednesday (10/2/2021).

The two KEK proposals are recommendations to the President who are expected to be able to present them investation and absorb a significant number of workers.

To KEK Lido, this area is planned as an industry tourism with the concept of attraction development business (theme park world class, golf courses, retail, as well dining).

Then, the development of accommodation in the form of a six-star resort, hotel, Transit Oriented Development ( TOD), and the development of a creative economy such as film studios and music festivals.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto as well as the Chairman of the KEK National Council said, KEK Lido is expected to be able to encourage the tourism industry in Indonesia.

KEK Lido is also projected to attract investment of up to US $ 2.4 billion or equivalent to Rp.33.53 trillion and absorb a workforce of 29,545 people in its 20th year.

Director of PT MNC Land Tbk Soesilowati confirmed the news of the appointment of MNC Lido City as a KEK Lido which is expected to encourage the growth of the tourism industry in Indonesia.

In addition, labor absorption is also assumed to reach 199,818 people when fully operational.

The JIIPE SEZ is planned for the development of the metal industry business, electronic, chemistry, energy, and logistics.

The production results of business actors in it are projected to be able to contribute export amounting to 10.1 billion US dollars per year or the equivalent of Rp 141.1 trillion when fully operational and substituted import in metal and chemical industrial products.

The JIIPE SEZ will later be integrated with the Krian-Legundi-Bunder-Manyar Toll Road as initiated by the East Java Provincial Government (Pemprov).
