LG updates its OLED screens for professionals. Comes now also as a 27-inch

Earlier this year, LG introduced its OLED screens for professionals, now they are showing next year’s models. For the 2021 model year, there was only one size, 31.5-inch, now another size is added and it is 27-inch.

The new models (32BP95E and 27BP95E) of course offer the benefits we have come to expect from OLED panels. As a bonus, the screens also have LG’s DisplayHDR 400 True Black technology, which ensures that photos or video always look as they should. They also come with detachable self-calibration sensors, ambient light protection and use the LG Calibration Studio software to adjust settings to the environment. The screens can display 99 percent of the color gamut DCI-P3 and AdobeRGB, they also have a contrast ratio of 1,000,000: 1. The monitors seem to have the same range of ports as before, ie three USB-A ports, a USB-C with support for 90 w power supply, two DisplayPort and an HDMI input.

LG does not provide info on update frequency in its press material, so probably the screens still run at 60Hz. Of course, you can buy an expensive screen like this and use it for gaming, but that’s not really what it’s for. The screens will probably not reach as high a brightness as, for example, the Apple Pro Display XDR, which uses LCD technology.

LG has not said anything about price yet, but the screens will go on sale in “key markets” next month. Hopefully the 27-inch is at least cheaper than the current 31.5-inch which costs SEK 39,990.
