LG sets name Rollable for future smartphone – Tablets and phones – News

LG has registered the Rollable name for a future smartphone, a Dutch tech site discovered. The name could refer to a smartphone with a roll-out screen, for which LG showed a teaser last month.

From site Let’s Go Digital liked the application for the brand name at the European trademark office EUIPO. The application was made this week and states that it concerns an electronics product. The description includes smartphones.

That fits well with a teaser that LG published at the presentation of the Wing. That teaser shows a smartphone with slide-out mechanism. From Wing is the first model in LG’s new Explorer program to experiment with the shape of smartphones. The model with the extension mechanism is probably the next model. LG has not provided any further explanation about the teaser. One went before rumor about LG phone with retractable screen.

The concept of smartphone news with roll-up smartphones is not new. TCL, among others, showed one prototype of such a phone. No phones with a retractable screen have appeared so far, although models with a folding screen have already appeared, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z phones, Motorola razr models and the Huawei Mate X smartphones.
