Letters were sent to voters about the Riga City Council elections – to the Riga City Council

This week, the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs has sent letters regarding the Riga City Council elections of August 29, 2020. Voters who had a registered residence in the administrative territory of Riga on 31 May this year have been sent 405,649 letters to the address of their declared residence in Latvia with information about the polling station where the voter is registered and the serial number in the polling station register. The letter is not a voting document and does not have to be presented at the polling station, it is for information only. If the voter knows his serial number in the list of the polling station, the service will be smoother.

For those voters who have activated the official electronic address (eAddress), a letter about the Riga City Council elections has been sent electronically to the eAddress. A total of 3864 such letters were sent.

Voters can also find information about their polling station on the websites of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs www.pmpl.gov.lv in the section “E-services / Elections”, by selecting the e-service “Polling station clearance”. You can use the service without performing an authentication process and providing only your personal identification number, name and surname.

You can also find out the polling station and the serial number in the list of voters by calling the reference telephone number 67049999 of the Central Election Commission or the information phone number 67209400 of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs. Websites of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs www.pmpl.gov.lv in the section “E-services / Elections”, by selecting the e-service “Clarification and change of polling station”.

It is also possible to register for voting in Riga City Council elections in this e-service if the voter owns real estate registered in Riga in accordance with the procedures prescribed by law.

Riga City Council elections will take place on Saturday, August 29. Polling stations will be open from 7.00 to 22.00. Three days before the election, it will be possible to vote in advance – on Wednesday, August 26, from 16: 00-21: 00, Thursday, August 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, Aug. 28, from 12: 00-20: 00 If necessary, for the first time in these elections, voters will have the opportunity to vote in any other polling station of the Riga City Council. However, in this case, more time must be planned for voting, which will be necessary for the polling station commission to contact the polling station and change the polling station.
