Let’s turn a B650 motherboard into an X670 with ASRock’s expansion card!

YouTube channel Level1Techs has received an attention-grabbing accessory in the B650 LiveMixer box.

In the past, ASRock introduced many unusual motherboards that changed the generally accepted and represented functional transitional solutions as chimeras of different platforms, or just an interesting splash of color on the market. In the time that has passed since then, the manufacturer has changed a lot, not only in terms of portfolio, but also in terms of quality, but now they have come up with a special little kettle, which can shake the bittersweet chords of nostalgia in older people.

The X670 Xpansion Kit, a card that can be inserted into the x4 PCI Express rail, allows our AMD B650 control bridge board to effectively advance to an X670, and solves this by deploying a second chipset.

Of course, that’s not all, as the construction has two M.2 slots for SSDs communicating with the PCI Express 4.0 interface, plus a bunch of extra connectors to expand our repertoire. First of all, there are two SATA ports on the printed circuit board, followed by a 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, three USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A sockets, and a 10 gigabit Ethernet connector on the I/O frame.

It looks like the hardware is a B650 as LiveMixer it can be paired with a listed board, and if the list of compatible types will expand, it will probably remain in the company’s lineup, at least the special cable responsible for low-speed I/O (such as I2C, SPI) indicates this. In any case, we look forward to the developments.
