JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Production Toyota Vios at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) assembly plant, Karawang, West Java, has reportedly stopped.
This news emerged after the farewell video of a number of factory workers carrying pieces of paper that read “Sayonara” Vios” popped up on social media.
However, Director of Corporate Affairs of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), Bob Azam, did not want to comment further on the news of the termination of Vios production in Indonesia. But he also did not deny the news.
“It’s only social media, there has been no official announcement from TMMIN,” Bob wrote via short message to Kompas.com, Tuesday (2/7/2022).

For information, the Toyota Vios was first present in the country in 2003 as a replacement for the Toyota Soluna in the car segment sedan. At that time Vios competed with Honda City and Suzuki Baleno. Vios also comes as a taxi sedan with another name Limo.
The first generation Vios carries a 1,496 cc 1NZ-FE engine capable of producing 109 hp at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm.
After two years, the Vios underwent a refresh with minor changes to the grille design, turn signal lights and interior colors (ivory).
Then in 2007, Toyota Vios launched the second generation with an exterior design that resembles the Toyota Yaris. This car is equipped with a soft suspension and quite comfortable compared to the previous generation.
Not only that, the second generation of Vios is also equipped with additional safety features such as ABS, EBD and BA as well as collapsible steering column in all variants.
Talking about the engine, this car is equipped with a 1,500 cc VVT-i heart pacemaker which is capable of producing 109 hp. This car is also equipped with Intelligent Drive by Wire ETCS-i which can make fuel more efficient and environmentally friendly.
