The minister reacted to reports that in the talks of the dictators Vladimir Putin i Alexandra Lukashenko a proposal was made to modernize the Belarusian Su-25s “so that they can carry nuclear weapons” and transfer the Iskander-M tactical missile systems to Belarus in the next few months.

“These are the same complexes that are already in Belarus and have already fired at Ukraine,” Anusauskas notes.

The minister believes that NATO should also start talking about replenishing the arsenal with “asymmetric measures” – for example, about the preliminary deployment of HIMARS mobile missile systems in Lithuania.

He also believes that while Lithuania itself does not have the opportunity to increase the capacity of its combat aviation so that they are adequate to real threats, “it is worthwhile to be more creative in creating additional aviation capacity in Lithuania in the NATO format.”

The minister writes that “these are just ideas” and that “an asymmetric response could be completely different,” but a response to one dictator suggesting another “share nuclear diapers” is still needed.
