According to the French newspaper, trade unions from the plant in Alsace prefer a Spanish investor.
Škoda Transportation acquired according to French newspaper Les Echos exclusivity to negotiate with Alstom for the purchase of a plant in Reichshoffen, Alsace. He has to sell it to Alstom if he wants to take control of Bombardier’s railway division.
According to the newspaper, Škoda Transportation was given priority over the Spanish company CAF. Les Echos explains that CAF could be a more ambitious rival for Alstom than the Czech manufacturer. Alstom did not want to comment on the proceedings. According to the letter, trade unions prefer the Spanish investor. In the Czech Republic, it was the first to draw attention to the report on exclusivity Echo24.
Alstom must get rid of the factories in order to clear the way for antitrust law to join the Canadian Bombardier railway division. For the same reason, it also sells its second plant in Hennigsdorf, Germany.
Alstom manufactures Coradia units in Reichshoffen. Škoda Transportation has previously declined to comment on the transaction.
The largest acquisition to date of Škoda Transportation, which has belonged to PPF since 2018, was the purchase of the Finnish Transtech in 2015.
