Lucio Valerio Cioffi, current head of the aircraft division, is the new general manager of Leonardo and will be responsible for managing and coordinating Leonardo’s activities. The decision was made by the board of directors who wanted a general management reporting directly to the chief executive officer.
With this reorganization, Leonardo wants to respond to the new challenges of a market characterized by the impacts of coronavirus, as well as the opportunities offered by the dual use of the technologies generated by this emergency. With this new structure, Leonardo intends to accelerate the new phase of construction of the Strategic Plan increasing the flexibility and agility to be even more competitive.
For the moment, the general management is composed of organizational structures: aircraft division entrusted to Marco Zoff, aerostructures division entrusted to Giancarlo Schisano, chief commercial officer (CCO) entrusted to Pasquale Di Bartolomeo, Unmanned Systems affidata a Laurent Sissmann, optimization of production and program management entrusted to Fabio Barsotti. Still to be assigned the responsibilities of chief procurement & supply shain officer and customer support, services & training (previously under the responsibility of the CCO).

At the general management will refer the activities of the subsidiary Leonardo global solutions spa. Furthermore, directly reporting to general manager, the new new business development & Country Support organizational structure is set up, whose responsibility will subsequently be assigned, which will manage and develop the business of the new initiatives of the Strategic Plan connecting the different corporate initiatives in a unitary and transversal vision. The new organizational structure will also have to ensure the consistency of Leonardo activities with the national program “We plan the relaunch”.
The new general management will take effect from September 1, 2020. From September 1st Lorenzo Mariani will assume the role of managing director of MBDA Italia e executive group director sales & business development di MBDA.
