WASHINGTON, KOMPAS.TV – Joe Biden, President-elect of the United States launched the COVID-19 stimulus package for US citizens.
It was named ‘The American Rescue Plan’.
The stimulus package is in the form of direct cash assistance that he has promised during the campaign.
The stimulus funds obtained from the US Senate amounted to 1.9 trillion dollars, equivalent to 27,170 trillion rupiah, which, if divided again into the number of American citizens, each one US citizen will get a value of 1,400 US dollars or the equivalent of 20 million rupiah (exchange rate of Rp. 14,300).
Previously, Biden had given BLT to unemployed people in the US due to the impact of COVID-19, amounting to 300 US dollars or around 4.2 million rupiah per week until September 2021.
This stimulus package is expected to be able to revive the American economy which has been slumped by COVID-19.
Since the beginning of this package being submitted to the Senate, many parties have refused, because it would increase the country’s debt.
However, with the support of Democrats in Congress and the Senate, as well as state governors, the BLT stimulus package was finally approved.
