Legia.Net – Legia Warszawa – Dariusz Mioduski about transfers, Jose Kante and Michał Karbownik

– The result of Silesia with Lech is good for us. It is better that there was a draw than the victory of either team. Then the point difference would decrease. And so we have quite a lot of comfort all the time. We approach each match completely separately. But I must admit that I have no great fear that we will not win the championship. I will not diminish that I think and I’m very afraid that we will not reach for the title. However, four very difficult meetings are ahead of us.

– We’re looking at the whole thing. It’s not just about scoring – of course, that’s the most important thing at the end. But in the long run, the most important thing is how we play football and how the team works. The whole round, from the resumption of competition, is very good in our performance. We had weaker moments, a little unlucky – maybe in two meetings. Overall, I’m happy. However, I must admit that both the coach and Radek Kucharski and I probably see that we have to play better to succeed in the cups. Because somewhere there our thoughts are at this next stage, cup games. And at the end of what has not been given to us for the last three seasons.

transfers

Dariusz Mioduski he was asked if there was any footballer who had communicated with Legia or signed a contract, but the club had not announced it yet. – No, we’re waiting for the season to end. Of course, we have a number of conversations. It hasn’t been going on for a week or two, but for a long time. We have specific positions on which we obviously want to strengthen ourselves. I must admit that what happened in the match against Silesia – especially when it comes to injuries in the team – can also affect how we look at additions or reinforcements. We have lost at least two very important players, namely Marko Vesović and Jose Kante. Additions to these positions are likely to occur because we are unlikely to be able to expect them in qualifying matches.

– Do I have details in the case of Kirkeskov and Mladenovic who like coach Vukovic on the pitch? Until this happens, I would not like to speculate about specific players. Especially about those who still play in other teams in the Premier League. Both Mikkel Kirkeskov and Filip Mladenović present a very good level. Part of the overall strategy is the ability to attract outstanding and experienced players from the Polish league with experience who will suit us. We also look at players from abroad and younger players, talents from the academy and from outside Poland.

– Cooperation between the staff, especially coach Vukovic, Radek Kucharski, Tomek Kiełobowicz, i.e. the head of our scouting, and me is very good. Of course, the basics of searching and presenting proposals are on the side of Radek Kucharski and Tomek Kiełbowicz. Consultations with the trainer and myself also take place at each station. My role is not to assess the level of sport, but to ask questions that may be unusual. But all to make sure that we are going in the right direction. But there are never really big discussions between us here. There is one coherent vision of what we want to achieve at the club.

– How will a pandemic affect transfer development? It seems to me that at our level we are becoming an increasingly attractive place – for good European players and the best Polish players. As a club we are moving forward and I think it is noticeable in Europe. Players who came to us in recent years and went to other teams … There are actually no people who speak badly about us, also our reputation at European level is growing. This means that we are also interested in players who were out of our reach two or three years ago. Simply because we didn’t know exactly what Legia is in terms of organization. We don’t have such a problem today. When it comes to finances – I think that in the case of good players it’s hard to say that a pandemic will affect it very much. As for the best – not so much. For medium-sized players, probably yes – there will be more of them on the market. And there will be more choices. However, we are already at such a stage that we are rather looking for players who can strengthen our team. Rather above this average.

– Have I been stretched a few times in the context of transfers to a club? Strain it too big a word. I definitely understand that it is not possible for every transfer to be successful. It is not due to such issues that someone is trying to fool someone. We have too thorough a verification process to make it so simple that someone will just fool us. What did the story with Ivan Obradovic teach us? I expected it to be the case. To be honest, I don’t know if this situation has taught us so much. When we look at the process we went through, there are very few things we could do differently. Interview related to the player, his level – from the sports and mental side, the clubs he played in, representation and direct conversations with “Vuko” and Radek Kucharski before signing the contract … Everything indicated that it should be a serious reinforcement. Later it turned out that for some reason it did not work out completely. The player gave up to some extent. He wasn’t ready for competition, he was happy with what he had. He got a good two-year contract and something – maybe – has changed in his mind. I think that this can happen. We will try to avoid it, but it cannot be avoided one hundred percent.

Jose Kante

The owner of the Legia referred to the story of Jose Kante, who took the shirt off the pitch and kicked it. – I took the whole situation very humanly. If the fans understood how Jose worked hard and how hard he fought to return to the pitch … He could easily let go because the injury he suffered was not light. He just walked for six weeks to get back on the pitch and give his best. Actually, in the first match after returning he suffered another injury, which excludes him for some months. He knew that right away. Frustration and anger was enormous. It was just the moment he reacted and it is normal, human. Everyone at the club understands this, we don’t have a problem with it, and we don’t see it as a lack of respect. Jose shows respect to the club every day, during training, with his work and I know how he approaches it. He doesn’t blame him, absolutely.

Michał Karbownik

– Will the barrier of ten million euros break for this Polish footballer sold from the Premier League in this transfer window? I do not know. I don’t know if Michał Karbownik will really leave us. We are not in a hurry with such a decision. We approach this rationally, from the point of view of the club and – above all – the footballer. If he gets such an offer from the team that will ensure his development, and at the same time it will be a satisfying offer for us, then we will probably let him leave. Because we are so agreed. We want Michał to grow. Our goal is for our players and pupils to go on and achieve success in other clubs, because it builds our reputation. Michał has the potential for top playing in Europe. We are constantly developing. Even in the match against Piast he went to the right defense and we all saw that it looked really good. Perhaps this injury of “Veso” even opens for him a chance to play in this position in the autumn round? There is no pressure. If there is a good offer, that’s great. If not, then we go further.
