Pieters Graafland made his debut as a 17-year-old in 1951 under the bar at Ajax. After seven seasons in Amsterdam, he left, for a record amount of 134,000 guilders at the time, to arch rival Feyenoord.
He had his greatest successes in Rotterdam. He remained faithful to Feyenoord until the end of his career in 1970.
With Ajax he became champion once, with Feyenoord he won the league title four times. He played 47 times for the Dutch national team between 1957 and 1967.
