Heart attacks don’t always come with severe symptoms.

According to the American Heart Association, heart attacks are often accompanied by symptoms of chest pain. However, not all heart attacks appear in severe conditions.
Sometimes a heart attack can occur with less severity, known as a myocardial infarction without ST segment elevation (NSTEMI). In layman’s language, this condition is more often referred to as a mild heart attack.
In NSTEMI, the heart does not suffer much damage and can pump normally. Harvard Medical School says heart attacks are usually only diagnosed when a patient undergoes a heart exam and doctors find evidence of damage to the heart.
