The Seoul High Court Criminal Division 1 (Judge Jung Joon-young Song Young-seung, Deputy Judge Kang Sang-wook) will proceed with a trial for the destruction of Vice-Chairman Lee, who was charged with bribery, etc.
Vice-Chairman Lee was handed over to trial in February 2017 on charges of giving bribes to former President Park Geun-hye and Choi Seo-won (previously renamed Choi Soon-sil) for help with the succession of the Samsung Group’s management rights.
The first trial sentenced him to five years in prison for supporting Choi’s daughter, Jeong Yu-ra, and sponsorship of the Korea Winter Sports Gifted Center as guilty, but the appellate trial considered a significant part of the amount convicted in the first trial as innocent. Vice-Chairman Lee was sentenced to four years probation after two years and six months in prison, and the sentence was also drastically lowered. The entire Supreme Court consensus said that it should be convicted of the cost of purchasing the horses and sponsorship of the Winter Sports Gifted Center. And sent it back to the Seoul High Court.
The sentence is expected to be decided between the sentence of imprisonment for the first trial (5 years imprisonment) and probation for the second trial (2 years and 6 months imprisonment and 3 years probation), as the amount convicted of conviction is less than the first trial before remand and more than the second trial . If you disagree with the sentence for remand of destruction, you may reapply and get the judgment of the Supreme Court again.
Earlier, the special prosecutor Park Young-soo requested the court to sentence him to a medium sentence, such as imprisonment for nine years at the decision trial.
Vice-Chairman Lee’s side appealed for election through efforts such as the establishment of the Samsung Compliance Committee and an apology to the public at the remand court trial.
In the business world, voices came out hoping for Lee’s good luck. On the afternoon of the 15th, Park Yong-man, chairman of the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry, submitted a petition to the Seoul High Court asking for the appointment of Vice Chairman Lee. It is known that it has filed a petition for three A4 sheets, but the details were not disclosed.
