Xiaomi 17 Pro Render Leaks, Showcasing Prominent External Display
A newly leaked render suggests Xiaomi is preparing to launch a flagship smartphone with a substantial external display. The image, originating from Weibo and shared by Why Lab, depicts the Xiaomi 17 Pro featuring a unique camera module integrated into a rear display panel. This design echoes elements of the Mi 11 Ultra, marking a potential return to experimentation with external screens for the company.
Xiaomi’s head of mobile has teased that the 17 Pro will be a “sophisticated compact imaging flagship,” while the 17 Pro Max is positioned as ”the more powerful” flagship offering. The leaked render supports these claims, hinting at a focus on camera capabilities and innovative design. The device is anticipated to feature a triple camera setup – two lenses housed within the external display area and a third positioned below in a pill-shaped container.
An alleged live photo of the upcoming series surfaced earlier this month, initially suggesting the external display would debut on the Xiaomi 16 series. The shift to the 17 series indicates a potential delay or redesign. Specifications remain undisclosed, but a September launch appears increasingly likely. The Xiaomi 17 series is expected to build upon Xiaomi’s existing flagship features, possibly challenging competitors with its unique design and advanced imaging technology.
