Leaked pictures show TCL telephone with sliding screen NOW

The Chinese telephone maker TCL would work on a smartphone whose screen does not fold, but extends to become larger. This is evident from images that CNET has published.

The pictures show that the TCL device looks like a normal telephone. The difference is that the size can be increased to tablet size by sliding out the screen on the side.

How it works exactly is unclear. The pictures do show that the images on the two screens are merged into one image without interruptions. According to CNET for a sliding screen, this idea resembles that of an extendable dining table, with which the table top can be extended.

TCL would like to show a working prototype during the MWC tech fair in Barcelona. That stock market is cancelled due to concerns about the 2019-nCoV virus. It is not clear when the company will still be presenting the telephone.

Other manufacturers are trying to make screens of telephones larger by reducing edges or by making the screens flexible. Samsung, Motorola and Huawei have already released folding phones. These models are often more expensive than normal telephones. They also still have teething problems, such as problems with the screen and the hinge.
