Le Matin – Reference health centers mobilized in the neighborhoods to increase screening spaces

The Ministry of Health wants to further increase the number of screening spaces for urgent patient care. This is how the department chaired by Khalid Ait Taleb decided to deploy referral health centers in the various neighborhoods in order to accommodate suspected cases of Covid-19. Speaking during a webinar under the theme “Worrisome Covid-19 epidemiological situation: The response”, the government official assured that people with Covid19, treated at home, would perform the tests and receive the necessary follow-up.

The Ministry of Health continues to mobilize resources and resources to deal with the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. Speaking Tuesday during a webinar organized by the Moroccan Society of Medical Sciences (SMSM), under the theme “Concerning Covid-19 epidemiological situation: the response”, the Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb, announced that “the centers referral health care units will be deployed in the various neighborhoods in order to accommodate suspected cases of Covid-19 which will be transferred to them by doctors from the private, public and other sectors, or by pharmacies located in each neighborhood ”.
Confirming the adoption of the new protocol relating to the treatment of asymptomatic cases at home, the government official indicated that “asymptomatic cases which do not suffer from a chronic disease and present no risk for those around them can be treated at home. , and this in coordination with the representatives of the territorial administration ”. These cases will perform the necessary tests, namely a cardiogram, and will receive the drugs while ensuring them a continuous medical check-up, specified the Minister, affirming that the deployment of the reference centers aims in particular to increase the number of screening spaces for a urgent patient care.
Believing that the current epidemiological situation “gives rise to a kind of legitimate fear and raises many questions about the reasons which have led to this increase in the number of contaminated cases, deaths and critical cases in intensive care units”, the Minister said that “The increase in the number of cases was expected after the lifting of sanitary confinement and the increase in the number of screening tests”. In this sense, he called on all citizens to remain vigilant to deal with the spread of the pandemic and to avoid exceeding the capacities of the healthcare system.
Also speaking during this virtual meeting, the wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, governor of the prefecture of Casablanca, Saïd Ahmidouch, affirmed that the epidemiological situation linked to Covid-19 is “particularly difficult” in the territory, like the shows the rise in the number of contaminations. “The diagnosis of the pandemic in the region is marked by the growth in the number of people affected by the virus,” he added, adding that the region has recently recorded nearly 400 cases per day. Deploring the late arrival of infected people in healthcare establishments, the territorial manager stressed that patients are often admitted to hospitals in relatively serious condition. Mr. Ahmidouch insisted in his speech on the important role to be played by occupational medicine in companies as well as private clinics in the fight against the pandemic. In this sense, the official said that these establishments are called upon to play a “more important” role in the fight against this pandemic, stressing “the need to reorient the screening strategy in order to detect positive cases as quickly as possible” .
Agree that the current situation is worrying with regard to indicators which are on the rise (incidence rate, reproduction rate “R”, positivity rate, number of intensive care hospitalizations and deaths, capacity of the health system which adapts more and more with difficulty, etc.), the experts taking part in this meeting called for an adapted response to allow the country to face this situation and avoid a worsening. They therefore advocated the establishment of harmonized monitoring tools, the definition of the relationship between the liberal-the hospital-the Covid Units, as well as the sharing of the decision to test with the liberal general practitioner. There is also a question of setting up a clear path for suspected or positive patients, involvement in the therapeutic protocol and considering Covid-19 in private practice as an occupational disease covered by the State. , underlined the participants. Remember that this online debate was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labor and Professional Integration, the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises and the Moroccan Press Agency.
