Although Isle-Briand is surrounded by water, notably Mayenne and Oudon, the park has very few water points.
“However, ponds are essential to biodiversity and are especially essential for the reproduction of many species such as amphibians”, recalls the Park team.
At different places in the park
Current december 2020, three ponds were then dug in various places.
“Two of the ponds are real creations. The third is located in an old ford, historically used for harness racing.”
The objective is to create conditions, exposures and varied depths in order to hope to welcome a fauna and flora in turn diverse.
“Once the ponds have been dug, it is nature’s turn to play its role. The role of man therefore stops at this moment: no planting or laying of tarpaulin for waterproofing. take advantage of the winter to get water and the plants and then the animals will colonize these new habitats on their own. “
