lazio President Lotito Criticizes ‘Stupid’ Market Block Penalty, Demands Federation accountability

Claudio Lotito, president of Lazio, has voiced strong criticism regarding the recent transfer market block imposed on the club, labeling the situation a result of “stupidity” and an “oversight.” The penalty, which significantly impacts Lazio’s ability to sign new players, has drawn sharp remarks from Lotito, who insists there was no deception involved and that the coaching staff was immediately informed.

The Lazio president, Claudio Lotito, expressed his frustration during a press conference, stating, “This story does not honor Italian football.” He further elaborated on the penalty, explaining that it was born from an “oversight” rather than issues with liquidity. Lotito suggested that the rules themselves, set by the Federation, are flawed, leading to such outcomes.

lotito highlighted what he perceives as an inconsistency in how financial regulations are applied within Italian football. He pointed out that other clubs with considerable debts, sometimes in the hundreds of millions of euros, are able to maintain their liquidity indices by strategically moving costs. This, he argued, makes the penalty against Lazio appear especially unfair and even laughable to financial institutions.

The president defended Lazio’s financial management, emphasizing that the club has been consistently reinforcing its squad
