Lavrov: And a “third country” could be involved in the conflict in Ukraine

Sergei Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today that the supply of American modern missile systems to Ukraine increases the risk of involving a “third country” in the conflict, Reuters reported.

Lavrov answered this question during a press conference in Saudi Arabia on US plans to provide Ukraine with modern missile systems that can deliver precision strikes on Russian targets over long distances.

Lavrov also said that Russia is experiencing difficulties in exporting grain due to sanctions against its ships, BTA reported.

“There are also problems with the export of Russian grain … Ships carrying Russian grain have come under sanctions,” he said.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which is also a major exporter of grain, has led to rising world food prices. Russia blames Western sanctions on it, which have disrupted fertilizer production and grain exports.
