A new establishment was the victim of the coronavirus in Lausanne. After visiting customers who have contracted the disease, the Punk Bar announced on its Instagram account that it was closing due to quarantine.

“We have been in discussion all week with the cantonal doctor. He confirmed to us that several customers suffering from the coronavirus attended our establishment last weekend “, explains Jamel Kaissi, owner of the bar, at” 20 minutes “.

Other cases had already been reported in Lausanne nightclubs, without these causing their closure. “The cantonal authorities wanted to find a solution to leave the bar open, but we ourselves decided to quarantine ourselves and close the establishment for the safety of all, after members of the staff tested positive as well” , adds Jamel Kaissi.

“No evidence of personal-customer transmission”

The Vaudois cantonal doctor, Karim Boubaker, did not order the bar to be closed. “Staff who tested positive have been placed in isolation and those in contact within staff quarantined,” he explained.

As in the previous cases at Mad and D! Club, “he also did not quarantine the customers who frequented the bar, because there has been no evidence to date of transmission between staff and customers.”

Karim Boubaker however recalls the importance of getting tested as soon as possible as soon as symptoms appear for people working in public establishments.
