Laurent Ruquier announces that his show “We are not lying” will stop next June

The host explains in Le Parisien that he “wants to see something else” and “takes back his freedom”.

This time, “It’s certain”. The program “We are not lying” (ONCP) on France 2 “will stop next June”, announces the presenter Laurent Ruquier in The Parisian Sunday April 18. “It’s my decision. I made it last November. My producer, Catherine Barma, asked me not to announce it, it’s not the kind of thing that is said six months to advance! “, he says daily.

Why this decision? “I’ve been collaborating with Catherine Barma for twenty years. I want to see something else, to regain my freedom. I thought it was the right time to ‘reinvent myself'”, answers Laurent Ruquier, who assured not to be angry with his producer: “It is rare for collaborations that last so long, just like a program of such longevity.”

The host however regrets the “bad press” made to ONPC. “You can’t compare the years from now to the years before. It’s much more complicated to make television today than it was ten or twenty years ago.” Despite everything, Laurent Ruquier underlines that the audiences of the emission remained good. “It is extraordinary to have carried out these audiences for a 2.5 hour program!”

Regarding the rest, he does not reveal his plans. “I work on projects for Saturday evening, a priori for public service, but I am not on the lookout to keep this box … I know that France 2 rather wants me to continue on this section, September or next January “, indicates Laurent Ruquier. “I can also do only radio and ‘Big Heads’ on RTL, and stop TV for a year without worry”, he adds.
