“Latvia’s Eurovision Semi-Final Results and Performance Review”

Summing up the audience ratings, 10 countries qualified for the finals – Albania, Cyprus, Estonia, Belgium, Austria, Lithuania, Poland, Australia, Armenia and Slovenia.

The co-authors of the Lithuanian Eurovision song are Latvian musicians Krists Indrishonoks (known as Chris Noah) and Jānis Jačmenkins aka JJ Lush.

Denmark, Romania, Iceland, Greece, Georgia and San Marino remained behind.

The aforementioned countries will be joined in the final by the “big five” – France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain and Spain, as well as last year’s winner, Ukraine. Croatia, Moldova, Switzerland, Finland, Czech Republic, Israel, Portugal, Sweden, Serbia and Norway qualified for the final from the first semi-final.

It has already been reported that the Latvian group “Sudden Lights” did not qualify for the finals with the song “Aijā”. This was the sixth time in a row that Latvia fails to overcome the semi-final barrier.

“I would rate our performance as good. We did everything in our power,” said the group’s soloist Andrejs Reinis Zitmanis in a conversation with TVNET after the results of the first semi-final were announced.

“What went wrong – we were unlucky to reach the semi-finals. There were many favorites, an extremely strong fight, and we already knew it from the beginning. It happens in life – this is a competition, and not everyone can win in the competition,” concludes Zitmanis.

Asked what participation in the Eurovision Song Contest has given the group, Zitmanis said: “We will certainly take with us an enormous experience – we saw high-level performances, high-level employees here, behind the scenes. This has been one great experience and we are glad that we had it’s an honor to experience all this and represent Latvia. We hope that Latvia is proud of us!”

Despite not making it to the finals, the group received words of appreciation from domestic social network users.

The final of the 67th international Eurovision Song Contest will be held on May 13, at 22.00 We invite you to follow the live broadcast of Tom Luš’s text on TVNET!
