Latvian Design of the Year Award program will host an online conference ‘DESIGN4future’

The online conference “DESIGN4future” will take place on October 23 and 24 this year in the Latvian Design of the Year award program organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Latvian Designers’ Union.

The conference will be chaired by Toms Grevins.

The conference envisages that the role of design in the development of technology, science, society and security will be discussed in four discussion blocks. The conference participants will look to the future – how life is changing and what it will be like after the pandemic, where the role of design and the place for culture and creative industries are here. What to do in the fields of design education, education in general and education. Issues related to the interaction between design and business, cooperation and export opportunities, what opportunities are disappearing and what are opening up will be addressed. According to Barbara Freiberga, Chairwoman of the Board of the Latvian Designers’ Union, this conference will test the readiness of the Latvian design industry for the future and look for shortcomings and ways to eliminate them.

The conference will take place Zoom platform. The live broadcast of the conference will also be shown at the Furniture & Design Isle exhibition, subject to all security measures and pre-registration for the conference on the BT1 website and on site at the exhibition.
